Buildings account for approximately 40% of our overall emissions in the UK and over half of this is from non domestic buildings. Tackling this issue needs to take into account the energy hierarchy to achieve the best results.
Communities can make significant savings in personal and community building energy demands by following the energy hierarchy. Many suggestions have little cost or short pay back periods and the introduction of Feed-In-Tariffs and the forthcoming Renewable Heat Incentive make the more expensive renewable energy options more attractive.
